NFL free agency begins next week. The Seattle Seahawks are not expected to make much of a splash. Instead, they could be preparing to lose key Super Bowl 60 contributors like Kenneth Walker III, Rashid Shaheed, Boye Mafe, Josh Jobe and Riq Woolen.
Is John Snyder preparing for something bigger, unforeseen? The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to trade superstar EDGE Maxx Crosby soon. Recent reports suggest Crosby’s market is heating up quickly. Can the Seahawks mount an offense?
Schneider’s love for rushing the passer is well known. Maffei is leaving as a free agent. Derrick Hall is entering a contract year. DeMarcus Lawrence and Uchenna Nosu may be entering their final years in Seattle. The Seahawks will add a pass rusher this offseason.

The obvious obstacle is Crosby’s contract. He signed a four-year, $106.5 million contract extension with the Raiders in 2025. The Pro Bowl pass rusher’s average annual salary is $35.5 million. He is under contract through 2029 and has a salary cap hit of nearly $40 million in 2026.
The Seahawks plan to re-sign Jaxon Smith-Njiba and Devin Witherspoon. Sam Darnold may also need a new contract next offseason. Schneider may want to pursue Crosby, but his contract may be precautionary.
