Sheriffs involved in the search for Nancy Guthrie have new insights into the time she disappeared.
In an interview with local news outlet KOLD on Monday, March 23, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos noted that there was speculation that one of the photos of the suspect released was taken on a night other than January 31, with some suggesting January 11. NewsNation’s Brian Entin reported on March 16 that investigators were seeking footage and information from January 11 and January 24.
Authorities investigated the released images of the suspect, which many believe may have been taken on nights other than January 31. However, since there is no timestamp, the date cannot be confirmed. “There was nothing there, and crucially, we can say with certainty that this individual, with or without a backpack, was in that house on January 11,” Nanos said.
Footage of the suspect removing the doorbell camera from Nancy’s home is the only way authorities know the recording was taken the night she was abducted.

However, authorities “do believe something happened on January 11, based on the FBI’s analysis of the equipment and digital material they did,” he added. Nanos noted that the information remains speculative and they can’t share any evidence that would make this date a concern for law enforcement.
Nanos also told the media that the investigation into Nancy’s disappearance is still ongoing. “We have a lot in front of us. We believe we have good evidence in front of us,” Nanos said. “Will that dry up? Am I wrong? Absolutely. Anything is possible, but we won’t give up.”

This update comes days after Nancy’s daughter, today Co-host Savannah Guthrie asked her followers for any information they might have related to January 11 and the days surrounding her mother’s disappearance.
“We urgently ask the community to return attention to our mother’s case,” she said in a statement on Instagram. “Please review camera footage, journal notes, text messages, observations or conversations that, in retrospect, may be significant. No detail is too small. This could be the key.”
“We want people to search their memories, especially around key times such as January 31, early morning on February 1, and late at night on January 11,” the statement added.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 at her home in Catalina Foothills, Arizona. On February 2, Nanos announced that the missing persons case was being investigated as a crime and her home was officially declared a crime scene.
A public information officer with the Sheriff’s Department told entertainment weekly At the time, “Investigators believe she was taken from her home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. The act against her will may include kidnapping or abduction.”
Nanos said Nancy had no cognitive issues and her disappearance was “not related to dementia.” However, she had limited mobility and “couldn’t walk 50 yards on her own.”
The Guthrie family has increased the reward for Nancy’s return to $1 million. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI continue to urge anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI.
