Shannon Sharpe finally addressed speculation about a possible return to ESPN alongside Stephen A. Smith.
After finding significant success outside of traditional television, Sharpe made it clear that the door is not closed on a reunion with his former network.

Speaking to Front Office Sports, Sharpe explained what the situation would be like if ESPN decided to make a decision.
He said: “It’s not my decision. If they call me I’d be happy to go back. Burke [Magnus]jimmy [Pitaro]Dave Roberts. This is their calling.
“But obviously, I’m very willing, I’m very capable. They see what we do on Nightcap. They see the numbers we generate.”
The response was measured but confident. Sharp didn’t portray himself as waiting by the phone, but he made it clear there was no bitterness or resistance on his end.

Instead, his decision was entirely consistent with ESPN leadership. From his perspective, the evidence of value is already there.
A reunion with Stephen A. Smith would be an immediate draw, given their past chemistry and Sharp’s familiarity with ESPN’s biggest debate platform.
Why Sharp believes his audience still thinks a return is justified
Sharp also pointed to specific numbers when explaining why he thinks he’s still a good fit for a major network role.
“Club Shay Shay was in the top 10 on YouTube this weekend. Both of our shows are usually in the top 20. It’s rare that someone can say they have a top 20 show,” Sharp continued.

He concluded: “We usually have two shows in the top 20 on YouTube. Obviously, I still have a fan base. I still have a huge following. If a reunion is in order, I’m open to it.”
The argument is simple. Instead of decreasing, the audience scope has expanded.
Sharp sees his success in digital as proof of relevance, not another path away from television. The platform may have changed, but the requirements have not.
Any potential reunion wouldn’t just be for nostalgia’s sake. It will be driven by impact, influence and the ability to drive conversation.
For now, Sharp remains focused on what he’s building independently. If ESPN decides to reconsider the partnership, Sharp has made its stance clear. He is open, confident and ready.
