SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Ngiba have agreed to a four-year, $168.8 million contract extension with $120 million guaranteed, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press on Monday.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract, which would make Smith-Ngiba the NFL’s highest-paid wide receiver, has not yet been finalized.

The 24-year-old set franchise single-season records for receiving yards (1,793) and receptions (119) and won the Associated Press NFL Offensive Player of the Year award last season.

His contract with Seattle runs through the 2031 season. The Seahawks exercised the fifth-year option on Smith-Ngiba’s rookie contract last week.

Smith-Ngiba’s new contract surpasses that of Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who signed a $161 million extension last March with $112 million guaranteed.

Smith-Ngiba had nine 100-yard receiving games during the regular season and was key to Seattle’s second Super Bowl win in franchise history. Smith-Ngiba had 10 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks’ 31-27 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game.

Overall, he has 282 career catches for 3,551 yards and 20 touchdowns.
