The Seattle Seahawks defeated the division rival San Francisco 49ers 41-6 in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday. They will now face another NFC West rival, the Los Angeles Rams, in next weekend’s NFC Championship Game. Saturday’s win was among the top five postseason wins in Seahawks history.
The Seahawks took the lead in the opening seconds when Rashid Shaheed returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. At the end of the first quarter, the Seahawks led 17-0. Kyle Shanahan’s shorthanded team simply didn’t look capable of competing.
It was a legendary night at Lumen Stadium. When discussing the best playoff wins in Seahawks history, the 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII clearly stands out. The 2013 NFC Championship Game victory over the 49ers may rank second as the only Super Bowl win in franchise history. The 2005 NFC Championship Game win over the Carolina Panthers was also a top-five moment.

Saturday’s win over the 49ers has every reason to be the Seahawks’ fourth-biggest playoff victory. The Seahawks still have two games to win. Hopefully when the 2025 NFL playoffs are over, this game will be remembered as a footnote on the road to a second Super Bowl championship.
