Seahawks’ Rashid Shaheed sets Super Bowl record … with six fair catches

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — If you didn’t believe the Seattle Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 was a great football game, then you must have missed Rashid Shaheed’s record-setting performance.

That’s right, Seattle’s No. 3 wide receiver and returner extraordinaire did something never seen before on Super Sunday – etched his name in the record books with six fair catches. That was the game on February 8th, with tons of punts and kicks and not a ton of highlights. Seahawks kicker Jason Myers also set a new Super Bowl record with five field goals.

As for the Patriots? Their record-tying 12th appearance in the Super Bowl also resulted in their sixth loss in the Roman Numeral Showcase, breaking a tie with the Denver Broncos for the most franchise records.
