Seacoast Wednesday Standout: Oyster River sophomore hurls no-hitter

DURHAM – Oyster River High School’s Colin Veroneau is quietly establishing himself as one of the best pitchers in Division II.

The sophomore right-hander had his third consecutive shutout, but this one against Pelham was special.

“He just found a little bit of form in the middle of the season and just dominated,” Oyster River head coach Cam Calato said.

The only outs on the field were a fly ball to left field, a grounder to second base and a pop-up to first base. Verono posted shutout wins in its previous two games against Kingswood (2-0) and Hollis-Brookline (9-2).

“I think this one starts the same as those two,” Calato said. “We put him out there against these top teams. We trust him and rely on him and he’s been helping us and doing what we want him to do, which is play in these big games.”
