OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Houston Rockets center Alperon Sengou has issued a public apology for making a gender-based insult toward referee Jenna Leno during Wednesday night’s loss to the Boston Celtics.
As the Rockets lost 114-93 at home, Sengon was upset about not receiving a free throw. He took out his frustrations on her, using insulting words multiple times and was deported. After recording his 10th career triple-double in a 112-106 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday, he addressed the incident and said he apologized to her immediately after the game.

“Sometimes, you can’t help yourself, but I should have known better,” he said. “But I addressed the situation and I went to the dressing room and I apologized. I shook (her) hand and said it would never happen again. It just happened in the heat of the moment and she understood that and it was a good thing for both parties.”
