When he wasn’t setting the tone for the All-Star Game, he was leading the Spurs to a 25-point victory over the Rockets. That includes a 38-point performance in the opening game against title contender Detroit, and countless other feats that seem to come night after night.

In last Friday’s win over the Clippers, the stat line was almost comical: 27 points in just 22 minutes of play.

As the late Tupac Shakur once said, “All eyes are on me.” Now, all eyes are on Victor Wembanya, and even his pre-game warmups have become a must-see attraction.

Few people know greatness better than Robert Parrish. During his Hall of Fame career, Parrish scored more than 23,000 points and earned four championship rings.

When asked by The Sporting News about the 8-foot wingspan phenom’s ceiling, Parrish responded simply.

“It’s a simple assessment of how great he’s going to be,” Parrish said. “Your opinion is simply based on what our eyes tell you every night.”

So, the question naturally arises: Is it too early to put Victor Wombanyama on San Antonio’s Mount Rushmore in his third season?

After missing 36 games a season ago due to a blood clot in his right shoulder, Vunbanyama is back and looking nearly unstoppable. On most nights, he continues to change shots, drive to the rim and somehow record more blocks than fouls in scoring in the paint.

The next chapter starts tonight.

The San Antonio Spurs are entering an interesting little climax against the Denver Nuggets, with whom they will meet three times before the regular season finale on April 12. The middle game will be at Ball Arena, where a rare game will be played on Saturday afternoon.

For a player who has attracted the attention of the entire basketball world, this is simply the next stage for a generation of Spurs stars.
