Richard Hughes is currently locked in transfer talks. A Liverpool deal is now getting closer.
It’s one of the busiest times of the year in football – the winter transfer window. The club has a limited amount of time to achieve its goals, and given that teams don’t like to sell players mid-season, it’s a difficult time to buy players anyway.

Unless they have a release clause like Manchester City did with Antoine Semenho. However, it seems Liverpool do not want to trigger any clauses this month.
In truth, it’s less clear what Liverpool should do. They are clearly lacking in key areas but at the same time they spent over £400m in the summer.

That’s why Liverpool may need to sell before signing anyone. One of them is now close too.
Federico Chiesa talks continue

Of course, it will also be a return to Juventus. Chiesa left the club to join Liverpool in 2024 after then-manager Thiago Motta left him out.
With Motta leaving, the door seems open for Chiesa to rejoin. However, it is unclear whether this is a loan with an option or obligation to purchase.
