The fiancée of former Syracuse University quarterback Rex Culpepper died at the age of 28, she announced on Instagram on Monday.
According to multiple reports, Culpepper died in an off-road vehicle accident after years of suffering from cancer. The Florida native was diagnosed with testicular cancer in March 2018 and underwent chemotherapy while training with Syracuse but still played in spring games.

On the final drive, Culpepper led the offense to a touchdown, exemplifying his resilience.
“No one expects to meet the love of their life, only to lose them within six short years of meeting them,” writes Savanna Morgan. “Rex didn’t always believe in soulmates, but in the end he told me that he didn’t realize what it was like to have one until we felt like an extension of each other. One thing about us is that we treat every day like it’s our last…
“You made six years feel like a lifetime Rexy.”
Culpepper died less than a month after proposing to Morgan.
In four seasons at Syracuse, Culpeper played in 30 games, including a brief stint at tight end before returning to quarterback. He completed 52.3 percent of his passes for 1,546 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Culpeper was born into a family with a long football tradition. His father, Brad Culpepper, played defensive tackle for Florida State and three NFL teams. Culpeper Judge, Rex’s brother, played D-line at Penn State and Toledo before a brief stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This is a devastating loss for Syracuse fans and anyone who knew Culpeper.
