TCU football’s new offensive coaching staff appears to be taking shape. Multiple reports, including from 247Sports’ Jeremy Clark, indicate the Horned Frogs are hiring Tulsa offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brad Robbins to be TCU’s next quarterbacks coach. It’s a smart move for Robbins, who previously served as UConn’s passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, as TCU’s new offensive coordinator alongside Gordon Samis, who serves as both the Huskies’ offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.
Robbins is expected to fill the position previously held by Kendal Briles, who served as TCU’s offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach and associate head coach before leaving for South Carolina following the 2025 regular season. Robbins has been at Tulsa for one season and will join UConn in 2024 as the team’s quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. A promotion coach, Robbins is at Tennessee Tech in 2023 after spending three seasons as the OC and QB coach at Division II North Greenville University.

His previous experience includes one season at Charleston Southern (2018) and four years at VMI (2013-17). He worked with wide receivers and tight ends at VMI before serving as Charleston Southern’s receivers coach and director of community services. Robbins graduated from the University of Virginia in 2010 with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and after serving as a recruiting assistant, he became a graduate assistant linebackers and safeties coach.
Robbins will be the third quarterbacks coach under Sonny Dykes, who hired Garrett Riley for the 2022 season and Briles for three seasons. After winning a national championship at TCU, Riley headed to Clemson. This also marks the first time under Dykes that TCU has hired two individuals to serve as OC and QB coaches. Riley and Briles both served as OC and QB coaches during their time at TCU, but the Horned Frogs will now be switching roles.
