Report suggests NFL teams are still interested in Bill Belichick

Bill Belichick just finished his first season in college with the North Carolina Tar Heels, and while there was a lot of excitement around recruiting at the beginning of the era, the head coach finished the year with a 4-8 overall record. Belichick inherited a roster that needed an overhaul and featured more than 50 new players.

Now, Belichick is entering a big offseason that will feature a top-20 recruiting class and a full transfer portal cycle. As Belichick looks at the Tar Heels’ roster, NFL rumors continue to swirl as expected.

On Thursday, Josina Anderson reported that at least two NFL teams are interested in talking to Belichick this offseason.

“At least two teams have recently expressed interest in having exploratory conversations with Bill Belichick, according to league sources.

My understanding is that Belichick’s front office in Atlanta, New York, Cleveland still likes him, and all struggling teams go through the usual evaluations this time of year.

Now, here are some things. NFL teams can express interest in talking to Belichick, but that doesn’t mean he’ll accept it. He remains adamant that he is focused on the Tar Heels and even shot down rumors about him and the Giants a few weeks ago.

There’s no indication Belichick will leave North Carolina in a year. However, as long as Belichick is interested in coaching at any level, NFL rumors will always exist.
