Report reveals if Broncos will play in Mexico this season

When the San Francisco 49ers were announced as the “home” team for the NFL’s 2026 games in Mexico, we thought the Denver Broncos might be a logical opponent, as they are one of the Niners’ upcoming opponents and both clubs hold marketing rights in Mexico.

However, ESPN’s Myco Paskel reports that the Broncos will no Will go to Mexico to play football next season. Instead, Paschell said the 49ers will host one of the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins or Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams are ready to host the Niners in Australia this fall, so it would make sense if neither team gets a true home-field advantage in the home-and-away division series.

Due to the imbalance of the 17-game schedule, the AFC and National League alternately host eight to nine home games. The National League has nine home games this season and the AFC will have nine home games next season.

Denver would be required to “host” an international game before the 2028 season, and it would make sense to do so in a year when the club has “extra” home games. With Mexico being the team’s designated international market, we could see the Broncos play south of the border as early as the 2027 season.
