The 59-year-old Schwartz coached the Lions from 2009 to 2013, reaching the playoffs once and with a record of 29 wins and 51 losses. He arrived in Cleveland in 2023; in his first year, the Browns had the league’s top defense (based on yards per game), but he didn’t have a head coaching interview.
In the current cycle, only the Browns have interviewed Schwartz, who coordinated the Eagles’ defense and won Super Bowl LII.
As a source told PFT last week, the Browns must weigh promoting Schwartz or potentially losing him.
Others include former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken and Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaas. Those who withdrew from consideration include Mike McDaniel, Jesse Minter and Grant Udinski.

If Schwartz gets the job, his most important hire will be offensive coordinator. Because offense has been a problem for the Browns in recent years. The defense was very good thanks to Schwartz.
