Report: Jamal Musiala’s contract extension at Bayern Munich sees his salary ‘approach 30 million’

Jamal Musiala’s contract extension with Bayern Munich last season was quite the story. Firstly, it is reported that the 21-year-old’s annual salary will be increased to the same €25 million as top earner Harry Kane upon contract extension. He has also reportedly been given a release clause in his contract, a controversial measure for the Bavarian giants.

However, Bild reports that Musiala’s contract is more beneficial to the former Chelsea FC youngster than it seems. As @iMiaSanMia captures, with inconsistent reports from German news outlets, Musiala may even be earning more than initially expected:

Jamal Musiala is currently Bayern Munich’s highest-paid player, earning more than Harry Kane. Including all bonuses and terms, Musiala’s annual salary at Bayern is close to 30 million euros.

So what does “nearly 30 million” actually mean? If the report is true, it’s reasonable to assume that the extra money is related to the bonus. They might even be fairly inconspicuous bonuses, which would explain why they were initially missed.

But this is also Bild, which likes to report Bayern’s wages very inconsistently. So maybe they’re completely wrong.
