Hobby, 59, will serve as the defensive line coach for new Arkansas head coach Ryan Silverfield this upcoming season. Hobby spent last season as a defensive analyst at the University of Tennessee.

Most notably for our purposes, however, Hobby is the former defensive line coach with the Cincinnati Bengals (2021-24) under current Colts senior defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. Overall, he previously coached in the NFL for eight seasons, focusing on the defensive line.
He brings a wealth of coaching experience, having previously coached in college.
Hobby will be tasked with improving the Colts’ pass rush while continuing to ensure their young pass rushers like Laiatu Latu, Ade Adabawore and JT Tuimoloau continue to improve and get better.
In 2025, the Colts’ team defensive sacks totaled 39.0, ranking 15th in the league and close to the league average. That being said, ESPN Analytics ranked them 30th in pass rush win rate last season (29%), which means Hobey has a tough task ahead of him from the get-go.

It’s also important to note that if the Colts choose to pursue top free agent Trey Hendrickson, as he’s been frequently linked to, Hobby will only help them with their recruiting purposes.
