Chelsea appear to have been frequently linked with a midfield move, with the Blues believed to be looking to sign a midfielder to take some of the load off Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues have been linked with Dutch youngster Keith Smit and 18-year-old Marseille star Daryl Bakola, but neither is likely to arrive in January.

Midfield is reportedly a priority next summer given Romeo Lavia’s injury concerns, with TEAMtalk reporting that the Blues are keeping a close eye on Pavlovich.

The report adds that Chelsea and Manchester City have done a lot of work on Pavlovich, with both clubs’ analytics teams believing the 21-year-old has the potential to be the next top midfielder to emerge.

TEAMtalk adds that it could take up to £100m to convince Bayern to part ways, which could set a record sale for the Bundesliga champions.

Is Romeo Lavia’s future uncertain?

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea are looking for extra depth, or to replace one of the current midfielders.

The Blues also have Dario Esugo and Andre Santos, while Reece James has shown he’s capable of playing in midfield.

There doesn’t seem to be much point in adding another midfielder and he would be the obvious choice to make way given Lavia’s injury issues.

However, Andre Santos has attracted interest from the club and the possibility of the Blues opting to cash in on the Brazilian cannot be completely ruled out.
