A renowned theoretical physicist, best-selling author and physics professor is alarmed by a documented trend of high-level scientists, some with ties to UFO research, mysteriously disappearing or dying over the past few years
“If one scientist goes missing, it’s a concern. But if 10 scientists suddenly die or go missing, all of whom have high-level security clearances with access to sensitive research, it gets national attention,” Dr. Michio Kaku told Fox News Digital.
“That’s unheard of,” he said. “This has never happened before. The next step is to determine whether their studies have a single common thread linking them to specific aspects of national security.”

Calais is also a famous television personality. He has appeared on cable news, late-night and talk shows, as well as several episodes of the History Channel’s “Cosmos” and “Ancient Aliens” series. In 2009, he began hosting the weekly television series “Science Fiction: Impossible Physics” for the Science Channel.
The most prominent recent example of this trend is the mysterious disappearance of Air Force Maj. Gen. William Neal McCasland (Ret.). He disappeared from his home in New Mexico on February 27, carrying only a pistol and a pair of boots. He left behind his cell phone, keys and glasses,

Retired general who once led Air Force Research Laboratory disappears
McCasland, 68, is a former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory and reportedly possesses top-secret information about UFOs.
He has ties to the state’s Los Alamos National Laboratory. The laboratory became famous for developing nuclear weapons during the Manhattan Project during World War II. It is a facility of the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and prides itself on breakthroughs in nuclear technology.
Two other former employees of the laboratory are also missing.

Anthony Chavez, 79, worked there until his retirement in 2017, the Daily Mail reported. He was last seen leaving his Los Alamos home on foot on May 8, 2025, with his car locked in the driveway. He walked without his phone, wallet or keys.
The same goes for missing woman Melissa Casias, who disappeared less than a month after Chavez’s disappearance.
On the day she disappeared, she delivered lunch to her daughter and was never seen again.

The National Nuclear Security Administration told Fox Digital News it is investigating the deaths and disappearances.
“The National Nuclear Security Administration is aware of reports related to employees in our laboratories, plants and sites and is investigating the matter,” a statement from the department said.
Scientists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory have also gone missing or died in high-profile cases.

His cause of death has not yet been released.
The next year, JPL’s Frank Mywald also died. He was only 61 years old and the cause of death was unknown.
According to his obituary, he designed a key instrument for a project called Surface Biology and Geology (SBG)-Visible Shortwave Infrared (VSWIR), a future NASA mission to launch a satellite into space and map the Earth’s “vivid colors” in more detail than the human eye can observe.

Just over a year before his death, he was working on a project to help astronauts on space missions identify signs of life on other planets, including Jupiter’s moons, Europa, Saturn’s moons, Enceladus or the dwarf planet Ceres.
Carl Grillmair, who also had ties to JPL, was shot to death outside his home in February. He is 47 years old. A man named Freddy Snyder, 29, has been charged with murder.

Amy Eskridge is a researcher in Huntsville, Alabama, and co-founder of the Institute for Strange Science. She said her work focuses on experimental propulsion concepts, including what she calls “antigravity” research.
She died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on June 11, 2022, at the age of 34. Further details are scarce.
She was clearly shaken before her death.
“We discovered antigravity, our lives ended (expletive), and people started sabotaging us,” she said in a 2020 interview with YouTuber Jeremy Rys. “It’s harassment, it’s threats. It’s horrible.
