Renee Nicole McLean HelloThe ex-husband of the woman shot and killed by ICE agents on Wednesday described her as a loving mother who had just dropped her young son off at school.
Goode’s ex-husband told The Associated Press on Thursday that he declined to be named out of concern for their children’s safety. His ex-wife was not an activist and, as far as he knew, had never even participated in a protest.
her mother, Donna Gangertold the Minneapolis Star Tribune that her daughter was “one of the kindest people I know.”
That description does not square with the Trump administration’s description of Goode, 37, who they say is a “domestic terrorist” who has been trying to impede federal operations.
“On Thursday, Vice President JD Vance saying she is “part of a broader left-wing network that conducts trolling, doxxing and attacks to make it impossible for our ICE officers to do their jobs.”
Goode’s ex-husband told The Associated Press that she was a mother of three and new to the area. She describes herself on her social media accounts as a “poet, writer, wife and mother.”
Video of fatal shooting recorded by eyewitnesses and shared with local reporters Max Nestlackshows agents approaching the woman’s car as it was parked in the middle of the street and asking to “get out of the car.”
When an officer reached into the car, possibly to turn it off, she tried to swerve and drive away — at which point an officer fired three shots at close range. Video shot from another angle does show an officer briefly in front of the car as the woman attempts to drive away, but he was not in front of the car and was not in apparent danger of being run over when he shot the woman.
Goode was pronounced dead shortly after.
