MLB Network has officially ranked the top 10 players at each position for the 2026 season, and the Boston Red Sox are doing well.
The Red Sox have two players at No. 1 at their respective positions: Jalen Duran in left field and relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman. Boston also has No. 2 left fielder Roman Anthony.

The Red Sox are one of only two teams with multiple No. 1 players. The other team is the Seattle Mariners, who have catcher Carl Rowley and center fielder Julio Rodriguez.
That’s a good sign for Boston. While both teams made the playoffs last year, the Mariners had the better record and were one win away from reaching the World Series.
The Red Sox have one of the best outfields in baseball thanks to Duran and Anthony. Duran was an MVP candidate two years ago. Although he regressed last year, he still played at an All-Star level. Anthony, meanwhile, is coming off a historic rookie season that could be even better this year.

Chapman is also coming off a historic season in which he was baseball’s most dominant closer last year, winning the Mariano Rivera Reliever of the Year Award after posting a career-best ERA (1.17).
However, Chapman is entering his age-38 season, so he may have a hard time replicating those numbers this year.
As for Seattle, Rowley is undoubtedly the best-hitting catcher in baseball, hitting 60 home runs and driving in 125 runs last season. He was the runner-up for American League MVP, losing to New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge.
Since his debut in 2022, Rodriguez has been one of MLB’s best all-around players, making three All-Star teams and four consecutive 20/20 seasons. He has also participated in two 30/30 campaigns, including last year.

Both teams are expected to compete for a playoff spot this year, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see these two teams meet in the playoffs.
