Triston Casas’ long road back to the majors from last year’s fluke injury will be a little longer.
According to Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic, Casas is not ready to play in spring training games and will likely continue rehabbing his knee in April.

While the Red Sox will return to Boston in a few days — Opening Day is March 26 against the Red Sox in Cincinnati — Casas will either remain in Florida for extended spring training or meet with the medical staff at the Sox affiliate before the game.
“I have no plans to start Opening Day with an affiliate,” Casas said, according to McCaffrey. “I haven’t discussed with the team yet whether they want me to continue my rehab at the Northern Affiliated facility. We haven’t discussed where I’ll be in April, but we’re taking it week by week.”
Last May, Casas ruptured his patellar tendon after hitting a ground ball against the Minnesota Twins. The injury not only required season-ending surgery, but also set in motion a chain of events that led to the Red Sox trading star infielder Rafael Devers to San Francisco.
