This is one of the most complicated times of the year for every team in Major League Baseball.
Opening Day is just days away, and while that’s exciting, it also means the club has to get its roster together. This led to difficult decisions, including demoting players to the minors and overall roster cuts. The new season is upon us and it’s obviously an exciting time, but every club has to make tough squad decisions first.

Like other teams in the league, the Boston Red Sox have had to trim their roster. Boston made some roster cuts on Monday, including demoting World Baseball Classic star Nate Eaton to the minors, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reported.
“The Red Sox selected Nate Eaton to Worcester, clearing the way for Andrew Monasterio to join the team,” Cortilo wrote.
Red Sox fans got a glimpse of Eaton last season. He played in 41 games for Boston and got some time in the diamond. He saw some action at third base, left field, center field, right field and designated hitter. He was a standout in the World Baseball Classic as a member of Team UK. Eaton only played in four games but slashed .316/.316/.579 with one home run and one RBI.
He made headlines with a home run off two-time defending Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers.
While Eaton may not have made the club out of training camp yet, his time could come as a depth option at some point in 2026.
