Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa takes aim at Barcelona – “The biggest scandal in the history of Spanish football”

It’s been almost a month since Alvaro Arbeloa took over as Real Madrid coach, succeeding Xavi Alonso. It’s been an up-and-down start for the former player, with his side performing flawlessly in La Liga but struggling in the Champions League and Copa del Rey before being knocked out by Segunda División side Albacete.

According to “Diario AS”, Arbeloa has assessed the current situation and hopes to continue his strong league form against Valencia on Sunday.

“Great teams have to do a lot of things well to win. We can’t just master one thing, we have to be able to do a lot of things well on the field: we have to be able to do them all at the same time, have the ability to automate, think the same way… and that can only happen through work and putting in the time.

“The quality of the players is still very good, with the same desire and ambition for the goal in front of us. Tomorrow is a very complex and difficult game. This week we have been committed to continuing to improve in all aspects of the game. We are still far from our ceiling.”

Arbeloa on Fran Garcia: “He represents the badge very well”

Arbeloa was also asked about reports earlier this week that Fran Garcia was close to leaving Real Madrid for Bournemouth.

“The only thing I can say about Fran is that he is a fantastic boy and he works 100 per cent every day, like he always does. That’s what I like to stress as a coach. Here, in order to win and achieve our goals, we need everyone’s effort and everyone does Good preparation. Forlan’s attitude and mentality are always an example. He is a boy who knows very well what this house is about and he represents the Real Madrid badge very well like many other local players and for me it is a lucky team to have him and he will continue to be with us.”

Arbeloa slams Barcelona Negrrera case as ‘scandal’

As Negrrera’s case has gained increasing attention in the media in recent weeks, Arbeloa was asked for his thoughts on the matter. As expected, he was harshly critical of Barcelona.

“Regarding the Negrrera case, I don’t think anyone understands that to this day, the biggest scandal in the history of Spanish football remains unsolved. For me, that’s something to worry about.”
