Ravens S Kyle Hamilton leaves game on cart with head injury, and Steelers score 1st TD with him off the field

All-Pro Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton left the game in the third quarter of Sunday’s AFC North game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with an apparent head injury, and Baltimore was immediately affected on the field in his absence.

Hamilton was injured in a helmet collision with teammate Alohi Gilman on Pittsburgh’s first drive of the half. After colliding with Gilman, the back of Hamilton’s helmet hit the turf.

Hamilton remained on the turf for a moment but was eventually able to walk off the field on his own.

Both Gilman and Hamilton were evaluated for concussions in the sideline medical tent. Gilman was allowed to return, but Hamilton left the field in a carriage. His status was unclear, but he was still off the field when the Steelers scored their first touchdown of the game to tie the game at 10-10.

A three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection in four seasons in the NFL, Hamilton was the anchor of Baltimore’s secondary and arguably their most valuable defender. In addition to concerns about his health, the Ravens will be severely affected if he is not on the field.

The winner of Sunday’s game will clinch the AFC North title and advance to the playoffs. The loser’s season is over.
