The Los Angeles Rams made their first signing of the offseason, and it might not be the one you expected. The team announced Wednesday it has signed veteran offensive tackle David Quisenberry to a one-year contract extension.
Quisenberry was scheduled to become a free agent in March, but the Rams signed him to a contract before his contract expired. Last offseason, they signed Quisenberry to a one-year contract after Alaric Jackson was diagnosed with a blood clot, and he spent the entire season as backup offensive tackle.

Quisenberry, 35, is a veteran tight end who provides depth at both tackle positions. He only played 18 snaps on offense last season, and he also played 73 snaps on special teams.
With Rob Havenstein retiring and Quisenberry re-signed, the Rams now have 18 pending free agents. The legal negotiation period for free agency will begin on March 9 and the new league year will begin on March 11.
