Quick middle of December Notre Dame football recruiting update

Notre Dame football added a new member to the class of 2026 last week, which should be a big boon to the group.

That gives the coaching staff a head start in the 2027 class, which has done a great job with eight commitments and is ranked No. 4 nationally in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

There’s a lot going on with the Irish and the class of 2027 this weekend. Here’s a quick recap of the Irish recruiting action.

(Note: All rankings based on 247Sports Composite.)

Make offer to 2027 RB CaDarius McMiller

Notre Dame offered Mac Miller a chance on Saturday while the College Football Playoff was underway, which means they won’t necessarily be watching. He’s a stocky 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect and ranks as the No. 251 prospect in the country. Texas will be a tough pull at linebacker, but the Irish have plenty of ammunition with Jeremiah Love and Ja’Darian Price likely to go early in the NFL draft.

Elite Overtime: Layton von Brandt puts Notre Dame in his top eight

The Delaware tackle is elite at 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds. His Von Brandt is the No. 38 prospect in the country, which would be a huge recruiting win. James Franklin, who had previously committed to Penn State, started the process again when he was fired. His new team is a running team, so you can’t beat the Hokies.

Wisconsin four-star TE Korz Loken sets commitment date

Now it’s time to see if Notre Dame adds the nation’s eighth-ranked tight end in the 2027 recruiting class. Loken, currently 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, has more catching ability and could be a huge threat in the passing game. Loken will make his decision at the Navy All-American Bowl, which will also feature other top high school players.
