Game summary:

The first half was a close game until the end. NC State went cold with about 4 minutes left before halftime (29-32), but Southern Methodist University heated up, going on a 10-5 run to end the half with a 42-34 lead. The statistics are similar, with SMU shooting 43%/50%/50% in the half and the Wolfpack at 39%/33%/67%. SMU led in rebounds by four, all offensive rebounds.

The second half was a tense game. After halftime, North Carolina State University went on a 27-18 spurt and took the lead at 10 minutes and 51 seconds into the game. The Wolfpack extended the lead to 12 points (76-64) with 6:50 left in the game before cooling off. SMU hit a three-pointer in the first minute to make the score 84-81. With 22 seconds left in the game, Pierre Jr. made a layup, chasing the score to 84-83. SMU gave the ball to Boopie (of course) for the final shot, which was blocked by Trey Holloman. A very important victory!

  • Quadir Copeland had one of the best point guard performances in a Wolfpack uniform. A career-high 16 assists. He grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and scored 7 points and 1 steal.

  • Darrion Williams led the way with 25 points. He scored 11 points in the first half, allowing the team to continue to tie the score.

  • Matt Able had his best game of the game with 13 points and led the team with 2 steals. After going 0-4 from three-point range in the first half, he went 2-2 in the second half.

  • Trey Holloman had one of his best games in the ACC. 11 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and with one second left in the game, he blocked a potential winning shot

  • Scotty is back! – 1 steal, 1 foul in 1 minute.
