Pressure mounts on Gasperini with Roma trio expected to split

Reports in Italy claim Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini is under review and that he, Frederic Massara or Claudio Ranieri are expected to leave at the end of the season.

Roma’s Europa League elimination by Bologna, coupled with the team’s poor performance in Serie A in recent weeks, could have an impact on the coming season.

Gasperini under scrutiny at Roma

Coach Gasperini met with vice-president Ryan Friedkin, sporting director Massara and adviser Claudio Ranieri on Friday, Corriere della Sera and Courier reported.

Several issues ranging from team competitiveness to coaching management were discussed at the meeting.

Gasperini is known to be unhappy with Massala’s transfer activity, while Ranieri has been trying to mediate between the two parties over the past few months.

Despite a promising start to the season, Roma have lost 14 games in all competitions and they have been eliminated from the Europa League and are currently in sixth place, three points behind fourth-placed Como.

According to sources, Roma will make adjustments in the 2026-27 season, and Gasperini, Massara or Ranieri will leave after the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the team will be trying to secure a Champions League spot, something the club is desperate to achieve, especially as a lack of revenue from Europe’s elite competition will force them to sell at least two of their top players for financial reasons.
