Poulin listed as active. Captain set to rejoin Canada for Olympic women’s hockey quarterfinal

MILAN (AP) — Canada is set to welcome back its clutch captain Marie-Philip Poulin, who has been included in the lineup for Saturday’s women’s hockey quarterfinals against Germany at the Cortina Games in Milan.

Pullin returned after missing more than two games after injuring his right knee in Monday’s 5-1 win over the Czech Republic. The 34-year-old skated alone Thursday and practiced fully with the team the next day.

Pullin said her knee is gradually feeling better, despite some soreness.

This is her fifth Olympic Games. Poulin’s 17 goals at the Olympics were just one shy of Hayley Wickenheiser’s Canadian career record. She earned her nickname by scoring three Olympic gold medals.

Starting goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens did not dress for Team Canada. It’s unclear if this is an injury-related issue or an issue with the Canadiens resting the veteran.

Canada is the defending Olympic champion and entered the knockout rounds as the second seed. Canada is expected to beat seventh-seeded Germany to advance to Monday’s semifinals.
