Police not seeking suspects after body found in attempted murder case

The body of a man found in County Down on Saturday has been named as 54-year-old Jonathan Baker.

Mr Baker’s body was discovered by police on December 24 while investigating the attempted murder of two people in Bangor. He was named a suspect in the case.

The incident occurred at around 15:30 GMT after a man entered a house on Chippendale Avenue armed with a knife and hammer.

A man in his 20s and a woman in her 50s were both seriously injured and have been discharged from the hospital after treatment.

Councilman Wesley Irvine stood in the street. He has short brown-grey hair and stubble and was wearing a dark padded jacket with a maroon hoodie underneath. The street behind him was blurry.

Councilor Wesley Owen said it was a “very rare” incident in the area.

“It’s a quiet residential area. It’s a mature area for different age groups,” he said.

“For anyone who has doorbell footage or dash cam footage that could be helpful to police, I would urge them to come forward with that information.”
