EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The El Paso Police Department has identified the driver who was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in East El Paso on Wednesday, March 11.

Police identified the driver as 43-year-old Norma Garcia.

As KTSM previously reported, the crash occurred shortly around 3 p.m. at Exit 30 in Lee Trevino. The El Paso Fire Department said a man later identified as Garcia was seriously injured while being transported.
A post circulating on social media said the object that flew through Garcia’s windshield was an ax. El Paso police said it was not an ax but a metal rod.
Garcia’s family has started a GoFundMe for Garcia’s medical expenses. Garcia is in critical condition, according to family members.
As of reporting time, no charges have been filed.
