Long before it became an all-electric derivative brand, Polestar’s guiding principle was performance, as its roots lie in being the racing arm of Volvo. While it may have strayed far away from its original mission, it has never completely forgotten its fast origins. Now, it’s apparently gearing up to launch its fastest model yet.
Polestar is reportedly gearing up to launch the latest model from its hitherto little-used BST sub-brand, also known as “Beast.” (Not to be confused with the official vehicle of the President of the United States.) According to a new report australian car salesPolestar plans to release its latest BST machine in late 2026 or early 2027, and the performance-forward special edition will be based on the existing model.

“Being able to offer more of the BST range for some of the vehicles that we already have or will have soon… would be huge,” Polestar Australia chief executive Scott Maynard said in an interview. australian car sales. “I think we should expect improvements from BST across more product ranges. It is seen as valuable and fits well with the brand image.”
Previously, BST has delivered an upgraded version of the Polestar 2, and the brand has also promised to launch a BST version of the Polestar 6 convertible concept car. The company’s fastest car right now is the Polestar 5, a sleek 884-horsepower sedan unveiled at the 2025 IAA Mobility Show in Munich (not yet available in the U.S.) that could serve as a powerful platform for the automaker’s latest BST version. Likewise, both Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 are still early in their life cycles, and are ripe for improvements in power and sportiness. Polestar executives have been reluctant to specify which models will receive the BST upgrade, but the automaker’s new chief designer Philipp Römers has expressed excitement about implementing the performance-focused changes.

“Of course we should keep it progressive and have some great features, but the execution and appearance of the car should be very attractive and well done and shouldn’t scare you,” Rommers told Car Sales Australia.
Polestar isn’t the only company working to bring high-performance electric cars to market. Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N is the clear winner in this segment, but luxury brands like BMW and Audi are also investing in electrified performance. Depending on which model Polestar chooses to upgrade, the Swedish model could be in serious competition with the long-talked-about new electric BMW M Neue Klasse, which will have more than 738 horsepower. Either way, Polestar seems ready to take on a new performance frontier, and we can’t wait to see it.
