Mikel Arteta admits Arsenal need to prove their quality in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
Arsenal take on Manchester City at Wembley aiming to end a six-year wait for a major trophy. The Gunners are already in contention for all four trophies this season, with Arteta’s side nine points clear at the top of the Premier League and in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and Champions League.

England have never won a treble before and Arteta admitted Sunday’s showdown could be his side’s “defining moment”. He said Arsenal need to show their ability to win big games and prove their quality this weekend.
“This will be one of the decisive moments because at the end of the day it’s about whether you win trophies or not.
“Once you get to the final it’s the most important thing, but to get to the final you have to do a lot of things. The team has done a lot so far but we need to prove it, that’s clear and it has to be done on the pitch.”
Arteta was asked at his pre-match press conference about the role Victor Chokeres might play in deciding Sunday’s final. The Spaniard was specifically asked if the club’s top scorer was signed to get Arsenal “over the line” in the final. Choqueras has scored 16 goals in all competitions since joining from Portuguese champions Sporting CP last summer.

“All our players have to perform at this level every day. When it comes to the crucial moments, when it comes to attacking the trophy and taking it home, we need players to step up and make a difference, that’s clear.”
