After a series of unexpected setbacks, the WWE Women’s United States Championship’s status at WrestleMania 42 has become a focus for the creative team. WWE is reportedly targeting a record six women’s matches in Las Vegas, but current champion Julia’s future looks bleak after an accidental injury.
According to Ibou of the Self-Made Sessions Podcast, the original internal pitch had the champion defending his title against Tiffany Stratton and Jordynne Grace in a high-profile triple threat match. The scheduled triple threat match hit a major snag last week when Grace suffered an ankle injury during her WWE main event match against Alba Feir.

Chelsea Green is currently sidelined and it is unclear whether she will recover in time to participate in the April 18-19 game at Allegiant Stadium. The injury reportedly forced Triple H and the main writers to consider a change of plans, likely turning the match into a straight-up singles match between Julia and Stratton.
For Julia, competing at WrestleMania will mark a milestone for the United States Women’s Championship. Since Green became the inaugural champion in December 2024, the title has changed hands four times in 13 defenses but none in the PLE.
Putting Julia on the main card in Las Vegas was seen as a step towards establishing the tournament’s reputation, alongside the top world titles held by Stephanie Wacker and Jade Cargill. Over the past few weeks on SmackDown, she’s tried to secure her spot at WrestleMania in other ways, including a failed attempt at a Women’s Elimination Cage match and a tag team title shot with Kiana James.
