The Pentagon has invited more than 3,500 employees to attend Good Friday services at its in-house chapel. But it only applies to Protestants, not Catholics.

“Just a friendly reminder: There will be a Good Friday Protestant service (no Catholic Mass) at the Pentagon chapel today,” read an email sent by Air Force leadership on Friday, a copy of which was shared by an employee.

“I think Catholics know their kind are not welcome,” said the employee, who requested anonymity to discuss internal communications. “This is ridiculous.”

A Pentagon spokesman confirmed there would not be another separate religious ceremony for Catholic employees.

“The Protestant service is the only service scheduled today at the Pentagon chapel,” they said in a statement.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegers is a far-right evangelical Christian who has tried to incorporate his religious views into Pentagon activities.

Last May, he brought in Tennessee pastors and controversial spiritual advisor Brooks Potteiger heads to Pentagon Host a prayer ceremonyDuring it, he praised President Donald Trump as a divinely ordained leader. Hegseth said at the time that he wanted to make the powwow a monthly tradition.
