The New England Patriots signed Stefon Diggs last offseason, and he’s proven to be a great weapon and leader.
The Patriots have solid weapons behind Diggs, but they may look to add more talent around Derek Meyer to maximize their chances of winning a Super Bowl with him. There are some solid options set to hit the open market, including Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alex Pierce.

Pierce is having a great season and has established himself as one of the best receivers in the league this season. After his first 1,000-yard campaign, he’ll enter free agency looking to make money. Sports Illustrated’s Ethan Hurwitz predicts the Patriots will sign him.
Hurwitz wrote on January 6: “The Patriots won’t be too aggressive in free agency, but will draft a few players who fit their plans. At the top of the list is Pierce, whose steady hands and ability to pass deep are a dream come true for Josh McDaniels and Derek Meyer. A three-year deal worth more than $70 million could lure the 1,000-yard receiver to New England.”
Although the Colts lost Daniel Jones for the season, Pierce continued to put up stellar numbers. He leads the league in yards per catch for the second straight season. Overall, he had 1,003 yards and six touchdowns.
Pierce was the Colts’ leading receiver last season, despite playing fewer snaps than Tyler Warren and Michael Pittman Jr. The Colts will want to work hard to retain him, but the Patriots could benefit from adding a player like him. Diggs, Pierce, Mike Hollins, KeShon Bute, Kyle Williams and Demario Douglas will be a great receiving corps.
Meyer is already playing like an MVP candidate. The addition of Pierce could make the Patriots’ offense even better.
