UFC 324, the first UFC event in the Paramount+ era, has come to an end. Now that it’s all over, we can evaluate our ideas. According to many fans of the sport on social media, there are too many ads. There are too many ads.
In hindsight, this isn’t surprising. The UFC is transitioning its numbered events from a pay-per-view format to “free” with a subscription to Paramount+. Now that American fans no longer pay $80 for these events, TKO’s value extractors believe it’s completely normal for ads to appear. To some extent, many fans would agree with them.
advertise
The number of advertisements inserted into the radio is very high. Turbo Tax is everywhere, with its K-pop Demon Hunter-inspired commercial playing ad nauseum. The promotion for Scream 7 was also a bit silly, with Ghostface stalking Waldo Acosta-Cortes as he walked backstage after his match.
strike? largely replaced by advertising. Corner job between rounds? largely replaced by advertising. Even UFC promos have ads crammed into one corner of the screen. Suddenly, people began to realize that the end of the pay-per-view era might be a deal with the devil.
