New Delhi: After India won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, broadcasters went around to collect the players’ reactions to the historic victory. Among them, Mohammed Siraj, who is known for his witty and humorous answers, gave another unforgettable moment when asked about his mood after the victory.
India won the T20 World Cup for the third time – previously in 2007 under MS Dhoni, in 2024 under Rohit Sharma and now in 2026 under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav.
During the interaction, the host asked Siraj: “What is the line for the World Cup? I only believe…?”
Siraj replied: “The whole team. It was God’s script because I was not in the team initially and then I got a surprise call and then we became champions.”

The host then asked, “Thoda sa frustrating ho sakta hai playing eleven se bahar rehna, lekin role kitna bada hai aap dono ka.” (Not being part of the starting lineup can be frustrating at times, but, how big is your role?)
Siraj responded in a humorous manner.
“Haa bahut hi bada role hai hum dono ka, bahar baithke pani pilana back to back, bat uthana.” (Yes, we played a big role. Sitting outside, providing water to the players and holding their bats.)
Kuldeep Yadav, who was standing next to him, burst into laughter.
Siraj played only one match during the tournament, against the US national cricket team, in which he took three wickets for 29 runs. However, he did not play any more games in the tournament.
Kuldeep played just one match in the tournament – against the Pakistan national cricket team – and took one wicket.
“Net mein bowling. Fir humlog positive environment rakhte hai. Hamesha player ko aisa rehta hai ki khele but team ka jo combination k liye humlog bahar baithe hai toh team is important. No one is important but team is important. Toh humlog ka aisa tha ki team jo sochti hai wahi behtar hoga.” (Bowling in a tennis court. Then we maintain a positive environment. Players always feel they should bowl but for the team combination, if we sit outside, then the team is important. No one is important but the team is important. So the idea is whatever the team thinks will be better), Siraj said.
