P.J. Haggerty scores 28 as Kansas State rolls past Mississippi Valley State 108-49

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — P.J. Hagerty made five of Kansas State’s 19 3-pointers and scored 28 points, leading the Wildcats to a 108-49 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Monday night, snapping a four-game losing streak.

Hagerty made 11 of 14 shots and missed just one shot from beyond the arc (6-4), improving to 5-2 at home.

David Castillo came off the bench and scored 19 points for K-State on 5-of-8 3-point shooting. Abdi Bashir Jr. scored 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting as the Wildcats shot 53% from beyond the arc. Nate Johnson hit two three-pointers and scored 14 points, plus 6 assists and 5 steals.

Hagerty scored seven points in the opening game to help Kansas State run on a 25-9 run. He had 15 points at halftime and the Wildcats led 55-21.

K-State shot just under 60% in the first half. The Wildcats shot 6 of 13 from distance and 11 of 14 from the free throw line. Mississippi Valley State missed 25 of 31 field goals, including all six of its 3-pointers.

Hagerty and Castillo each missed a field goal in the second half, and combined for 25 of the Wildcats’ 53 points after the break.

Michael James scored 23 points to lead the Delta Devils (1-9), who are 0-7 on the road and have lost eight straight.
