James Hudson’s one-year free agent contract with the New England Patriots comes with a few stipulations.
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Hudson’s contract does not guarantee him a spot on the team in 2026.

“The one-year contract OT James Hudson signed with the Patriots is a veteran salary and benefits deal with a reduced salary cap charge,” Rice posted on X .
“The deal reflects Hudson adding depth behind starting OT Will Campbell/Morgan Moses but does not guarantee a roster spot.”
Hudson had one sack and seven total pressures as a member of the New York Giants in 2025. The 26-year-old played 84 snaps at left tackle last season.
The Patriots added Hudson to the offensive line after signing Aliyah Vera-Tucker in free agency to address the left guard position.
New England lost backup left tackle Vederian Lowe to the San Francisco 49ers on the open market, making Hudson’s arrival in Foxborough particularly timely.
