Habib Beye was selected to succeed Roberto De Zerbi as Olympique Marseille head coach on Wednesday night. Speaking to the media on Thursday, the new coach from Foscia revealed his tactical blueprint for the team currently in fourth place in Ligue 1.
“When you have players of this quality and this team, you have to aim to be a vertical team, a team that can play dominant football. With these talented players, we need to realize that. It’s too early to sell you a full game plan, but here, people want to feel the excitement – they want to identify with the team. I believe the work has been done. The work that has been done has been great. Good – there are positive and negative dynamics, but we have to acknowledge what OM has achieved in recent years. You can’t ignore this: of course we always want results to be consistent, but it’s not for me to judge, here the fans are passionate about OM, about the club, about football and we need to reflect that to understand the identity and values of the club and the city, but the real test will be on the pitch.” explained the Senegalese coach.
