Ole Miss stuns No 21 Georgia with Patton Pinkins’ ridiculous tip-in buzzer-beater

Mississippi State somehow managed to withstand double overtime on Wednesday night and escape Athens with a two-point upset.

All thanks to a crazy tip-in by Barton Pinkins.

Pinkins found himself open in the paint as the Rebels held off No. 21 Georgia 97-95 in overtime on Wednesday in Athens.

With the game tied at the end of overtime at Stegman Arena, AJ Stoll’s off-balance shot from near the free throw line went wide. With time running out, the game seemed destined to go into a second overtime, especially considering the missed shot bounced off the rim into a scrimmage in the middle of the lane and inadvertently tipped off the backboard.

But somehow the ball ended up right in Pinkins’ hands. He quickly got the ball back before the final buzzer sounded to seal the victory by two points. Naturally, he and Mississippi’s bench lost.

Pinkins scored 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting in the Rebels’ victory, and Stoll came off the bench to score 27 points and grab eight rebounds. The win pushed Mississippi State’s season record to 10-7.
