NYU immediately struggled in the game, trailing 30-18 at halftime. While the team rallied in the third quarter and eventually cut the lead to single digits, Scranton was able to hold them off and claim the victory.

After the loss, NYU coach Meg Barber praised Scranton for playing a great game, according to NYU’s website.

“Give Scranton a thumbs up,” head coach Meg Barber said. “They jumped out of the back and we attacked from behind, which was a little unusual for us. But, I thought we showed a lot of resilience and really hung in there for four quarters.”

The victory ended NYU’s 91-game winning streak, the second-longest winning streak in NCAA history behind UConn’s 111-game winning streak. UConn accomplished this feat between 2014 and 2017.
