Notre Dame football loses a linebacker to the transfer portal

Notre Dame football and the transfer portal continue to receive attention, and another reliable contributor added his name to the mix on Tuesday.

Linebacker and special teams star Preston Zinter has decided to leave the program after playing the past three seasons, Tyler Hoka reports. He has two games left, as you have to assume he’ll be looking for a team that allows him to play a bigger role on the floor.

Zinter joined the program as a three-star athlete out of Massachusetts and had multiple other solid offers. It’s likely he’ll end up somewhere less prestigious than Notre Dame in order to visit the ballpark more often. Interestingly, Matt Freeman reports that at least two teams are interested in him as a tight end/H-back.

We wish Preston all the best in finding a new football home.
