Kentucky Wildcats basketball recruiting has received some harsh treatment lately as a few different factors have caused the staff to struggle during the recruiting process. KSR’s Jack Pilgrim and Jacob Polacheck do a great job of shedding light on several issues with insights from several different agencies and sources in the recruiting world.
Unfortunately, these issues appear to have cost the Cats their top target on the roster.

Joe Tipton of On3 and Rivals posted an update on five-star prospect and No. 1 overall prospect Tyran Stokes, and it’s another not-so-good update for those in the BBN.
UK, Oregon State and Kansas State rounded out the final three, with Vanderbilt each receiving an offer this week. Now, while it seems unlikely that Stokes will end up in Nashville, Tipton believes things are moving in the right direction and Stokes will eventually join Bill Self and the Jayhawks.
“Since then, people familiar with the situation say Kentucky has slipped while Kansas State has gained momentum. I was told a return to Lawrence is possible. The issue here is Stokes’ recent NIL shoe deal with Nike. Nike naturally favors Nike schools, and Kansas State is an Adidas program, which complicates the situation. If the Jayhawks can overcome that hurdle, which I think is possible, then Bill Self and Kansas State will be the favorites.”
It looks like Pope and his staff may yet face another major challenge. This must be corrected as soon as possible.
