KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) – FOX8 is continuing to monitor what people are sharing about delivery delays at the FedEx Center in Kernersville.
After our initial story detailed the complaints, more people wrote to FOX8 saying they were experiencing the same thing. For some, the cargo stranded at the facility is the medicine they depend on to survive.
Tammy Titus lives with multiple sclerosis and relies on special medications every day to manage her condition.
She said she has had the drug shipped three times in the past three weeks but it has yet to reach her.
“Until now, they’ve always gotten things to me very quickly, but now it’s nothing… For some people, the package is frustrating, but when you’re talking about medications for chronic diseases, it’s a big deal,” Titus said.
Titus said she initially expected the medication to be delivered to her home in Greensboro on Jan. 29, the day before the second winter storm hit.
“They were scheduled to arrive Thursday evening. I got an update from FedEx that they had shipped it to an unknown address,” Titus said.
She needs it every day.
Knowing her supply of medication was about to run out, the specialty pharmacy placed another order overnight.
When that didn’t arrive, they shipped a third one.
“Another one was supposed to be sent. They thought that would work, not just my home address. It was sent to one of their centers at Walgreens,” Titus said.
All of the drugs, worth about $2,000, are still missing, she said.
She hasn’t taken her medicine for several days now.
“Because I have relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, … I can walk pretty well now. I can talk pretty well,” Titus said. “But the longer I was off the medication, the more I felt some of the little symptoms coming back because it was helping me deal with them.”
She said the tracking information was unclear.
“I have three orders for this drug floating around somewhere,” Titus said.
FOX8 went to the customer pickup area at the FedEx Center in Kernersville and called the posted helpline to ask about the delay.
The employee who answered the call said she was an administrator and was not authorized to speak publicly.
“I don’t know if they’ve been on the truck, but I haven’t received them, they haven’t given my pharmacy any answers, they haven’t given me any answers as to where my medications are,” Titus said.
FOX8 also reached out to FedEx’s media relations team to ask what options are available for customers waiting for their medication to be delivered, but has not yet received a response.
Titus said she is still waiting and hopes at least one of the three shipments will arrive soon.
