The Miami Heat are having a rough season, but Norman Powell deserves credit for his 2025-26 season. He averaged 24.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Powell remains an elite three-point shooter, averaging 42.1% from three this season.

Powell has been Erik Spoelstra’s most reliable offensive player this season while Tyler Herro has missed multiple games due to injury. Bam Adebayo is still a good offensive player, but his 17.3 points per game are his lowest since the 2019-20 season.
Powell believes he deserves All-Star selection
After a strong start to the season, the Heat have plateaued and sit in the middle of the Eastern Conference standings. Their record this season is 20-16, tied with the Orlando Magic.
The Heat have made a lot of great plays this season, but they can’t seem to continue the momentum that would propel them higher in the standings. Of course, they did have that kind of performance early in the season, but now, teams know them and their style better.

Miami starts the new year with a new style because they want to run and shoot. Jaime Jaquez Jr. will benefit the most from this as he excels as a player in transition. The same goes for Powell, who has been running the floor since he started playing for the Toronto Raptors.

Now that he has become such an excellent third-level scorer, Powell has become one of the Heat’s best players. He has been selected to the All-Star Game for the second consecutive year and believes he should be selected this season.
“I definitely proved it last year, don’t dwell on whether I have to succeed or not. I think I should succeed,” Powell said after the win over the Pelicans. “After the game, my peers all over the league told me I was an All-Star. Hopefully I can do that this year, but for me, the goal is to go out and win.”

Powell continued his stellar performance with an All-Star performance, scoring 34 points. He shot 9-for-12 from beyond the arc, a reflection of his ability to lead the Heat to a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Heat may have a lot of quality players on their roster, but Powell will be hard to ignore this season. He’s determined to help his team win in any way possible, and if that gets him All-Star recognition, that’s a huge bonus for him.
