Nintendo confirmed in its latest financial results that it has sold more than 10 million Nintendo Switch 2 units since its launch in June. The company announced that Switch 2 software sales also exceeded 20 million units. Nintendo also raised its full-year sales forecast for Nintendo Switch 2 by 4 million units in fiscal 2026 to 19 million units.
The company released its latest sales figures in its fiscal 2026 second-quarter earnings report on Tuesday, confirming that it had sold 10.36 million Switch 2 units as of September 30. Software sales on the new platform were 20.62 million units.
“Mario Kart World” is a kart racing game launched with the Switch 2. Including the “Mario Kart World” Switch 2 bundle, 9.57 million copies have been sold. “Donkey Kong Bananza,” another big first-party game on Nintendo’s new console, has sold 3.49 million copies.
Nintendo also reported that its video game platform business sales increased 119.7% year-on-year to 1,066.1 billion yen, thanks to the launch of Switch 2 earlier this year.
Nintendo raises Switch 2 sales forecast
The Japanese company adjusted its financial forecast for fiscal 2026 in the mid-term, raising its expected net sales to 2.25 trillion yen from 1.9 trillion yen, an increase of 18.4%. Nintendo also raised its full-year sales forecast for Nintendo Switch 2 to 19 million units from the previous 15 million units. The new forecast easily beat analysts’ expectations for device sales of 17.6 million units in the fiscal year ending in March 2026. Sales forecast for Switch 2 software also increased by 3 million units to 48 million units.
However, the company lowered its annual sales forecast for the original Nintendo Switch by 500,000 units to 4 million units, but raised its sales forecast for the Switch 1 software by 20 million units to 125 million units.
Nintendo Switch has sold 154 million units so far, of which Switch 1 software sales were 1.45279 billion units.
Nintendo Switch 2 sold 6 million units in seven weeks after its release on June 5. Last month, Nintendo asked its suppliers to increase production of Switch 2 and produce up to 25 million units of the new console by the end of this fiscal year (March 2026).
