NFL world, Commanders fans, rejoice when Nick Sirianni loses

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Game on Sunday, knocking the defending Super Bowl champions out of the playoffs. Fans of the other three teams in the NFC East (Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants) also celebrated.

No matter what, Washington, Dallas or New York aren’t rooting for Philadelphia, but other fans are especially happy when Eagles coach Nick Sirianni gets some humble pie.

Whether he’s taunting fans, arguing with his own players or not acting like an NFL head coach on the sidelines, Sirianni’s reputation among opposing fans is well-deserved.

Whenever Sirianni suffers an embarrassing moment or loss, this meme comes back to haunt him.

Especially for Washington fans, this is personal. In 2022, Sirianni was in his second season as an NFL head coach and he donned the jersey of Eagles great Mike Quick after the Eagles defeated the Commanders in Washington.

It’s not the jersey that has Washington fans upset; He sacked two of the greatest NFL players of all time, who happen to be Washington legends.

“I’ve always been a fan of Quick,” Sirianni said. “He’s had some great success here in Washington, and I think so, I talked to him today, against Darrell Green. So, then, uh, I’d take Mike Quick over Art Monk any day.”

Monk and Green are not only Redskins legends, but two of the most iconic men of all time.

What is the point of these comments? How many former NFL head coaches would do that?

When the two teams met again that season, the Commanders shocked the previously undefeated Eagles on Monday Night Football, and Terry McLaughlin wasn’t forgotten, paying tribute to Monk after the game.

Let’s not forget Week 16 of the 2025 season, when Sirianni led the Commanders by 18 points when he unintentionally drained a late 2-pointer late in the game. Dan Quinn was angry. The same goes for Washington’s players.

Over the past few seasons, no NFL team has had a better roster than the Eagles. Sure, Sirianni won a Super Bowl behind two elite coordinators, but it’s the ones Philly didn’t win that will be remembered.

Washington’s 2025 season ended last week. It was ugly and disappointing, winning just five games, including one over Philadelphia. The Eagles will now meet up with their commanders in “Cancun”.

Even Eagles fans are tired of Sirianni.

Enjoy the offseason, coach.
